The Grub install fail error can be mitigated by removing the USB stick and retry. Eventually, the Grub installer will understand that it's the harddisk you're installing the loader on. It's a pretty crucial flaw. I wonder how it's not been patched on Trisquel. I guess nobody netinstalls

Reinstalling would not do anything. Removing ~/.config/evolution would, I guess. But can't you just delete the account from Edtition/Preferences and re-add it? And I still do not understand why you do not use STARTTLS since it works and is at least as secure.

Almost all Atheros wifi chips works without blobs. Just buy one or more different Atheros wifi card. Do not pay too much for each. 1-5 euros for card, is fine. Modern Atheros cards need blobs I think.

I suspected so. How do I upgrade my Evolution? Seems like 3.10 is the latest in the Trisquel repository, even though the Packet handler shows a bunch of related packages with a star for upgrade. Maybe upgrading will do the trick? Is there a way to filter so I can see upgradable packets only?

Don't worry, it will. It's just a matter of having a recent enough kernel for the hardware. Ubuntu 16.04 uses the same version of Linux that Trisquel 8 is going to use, so Trisquel 8 will work with it.
