No hard drive just connects "by regular USB". Your external hard drive has a converter on it. It might even be detachable (mine is).

Trisquel ships with GNOME Flashback by default. You can get GNOME Shell by installing the gnome-session and gnome-shell packages, and optionally the gdm package.

aross, i checked out those 85gbyte/sec sd/mmc cards, i can get 20mbyte/sec sustained out of it on the EOMA68-A20. the A64 computer card i'm waiting for the allwinner a64 team to get with the programme and release those 200 lines of code needed for libdram so it's no longer gpl-violating.
