Hi
can you install tox chat on trisquel ? and is it totally free source?
https://tox.chat/
Thank you
Thanks,
I will wait then for the new T8
The old package can be installed via the add programs option in trisquel
Is there a preview when T8 will be launched?
Newer versions of kdenlive require KDE Framework 5, which is only coming in
Trisquel 8. You can try an oldish version if packages still exist or you're
willing to compile them...
You're mistaking unar (command-line version of The Unarchiver) with unrar.
There is no such thing as "unar-free". unar supports all versions of RAR.

I see two problems with this:
1. Any simulation done this way is not the same as actually doing the job.
You don't actually feel anything, so how could it be? It's still
Greetings,
did someone installed the latest version of Kdenlive?
I tried this following the site advice and didn't work with trisquel.
For Ubuntu >= 15.04 and other *buntu based distros like LinuxMint you can
download latest Kdenlive from our official PPA’s:
sudo add-apt-repository
Thanks for the reply.
This will do.

Unar is very interesting alternative that should be in Trisquel. Why? Because
we must create the best, libre, GNU/Linux distro ever. If we can support

Unar is on the Parabola's repos. Of course it should be on Trisquel's too! I
use it and it's very useful
I do have a list of places to use for searching, but I almost always
find such specific search engines to actually be missing most of the
findings I make, specially because they apparently only deal with text,
not other forms of scientific resource.
So, instead I suggest you to search on normal

yes they are :). amlogic i
Atril, the mate document viewer, works very well. I think it's logical to use
the default mate applications, since they offer good environment integration,
same gtk version, etc.

Hello,
This is fantastic news!!
I booted up this bad boy and I like it so far. I just played around with the
live session.
There is no Gui Application for to install Trisquel 8 yet is there? I saw no
sign of one in the live session anyway...
Keep up the great work!

I heard unar-free cannot do v3 of RAR files, but unar can. Maybe newer
versions of unar-free can now. I just don't use RAR files anymore.
You now, I never got involve in the discussion because I was very happy with
trisquel 7. If I needed a newer software I was just able to compile it.
Security wise, Trisquel 7 life cycle has still a long way too, so no reason
to worry about that either.
It wasn't until a few days ago that I
Hey I remember Crunchbang had in the openbox menu entries for, say Libo, and
it could be installed from there.
I thought this was rather nice. It was easily installable, but not installed
yet.
The Openbox menu (I gotta find a way to integrate it to i3wm, I like it this
much) isn't

I would strongly recommend it for you too. you can use the computer card

You are correct, and i would just add a precision, because some people are
not aware of the following point (I, for one, wasn't until recently). The
five years of support only apply to the packages in Ubuntu's Main repository.
There is no support from Canonical for the packages in Universe,
Trisquel 7 is at the half of his life, in fact. Trisquel is largely a subset
of the Ubuntu distribution (though with Linux-Libre instead of Linux), so
updates are provided from Ubuntu repositories, which for LTS versions provide
five years of support.
Trisquels life is Ubuntus life minus

Hi,
There was a thread from over a year ago about single board computers which
has been closed. There have been developments since then. If there is another
forum more suitable for this topic, please let me know. I haven't been able
to find one.
I need a single-board computer with:

Trisquel updater is updated today but I cannot see 8.0.
Can I update it now (without reinstalling)? I want to build GLFS distro on
newer software.

I've been using Trisquel for about a year my friend :) that's why I didn't
even think about Trisquel 6.0 but you qust gave a better reason than I did
that we can use Trisquel 7.0 a few more :)
Honestly I was never sure about those security updates, every time I do sudo
apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade there is something new there. :/
I can asure you my friend that even in Parabola they care way more about
freedom than updates :)
I am not against using a different distribution, in general my point is
"please let's give time to trisquel, is not like Trisquel 7.0 is useless",
not "do not use another distribution".
no, 'unar' it can also extract 'rar' files.
According to wikipedia Trisquel 6 is supposed to be supported until 2017.
People need to chill. If there are Trisquel people who need the bleeding edge
there is always Parabola GNU/Linux.
Do you know "unrar-free"?
I am still using Trisquel 6 at one of my older PCs, and it run just fine too.
Probably I will use it for some time after its EOL date. Actually I do not
use Trisquel 7.0 right now :) So yeah, please do not forget about version 6
too.

Overall I absolutely agree with what you write, especially this part:
Free Software is about ethics and respect freedom of the user. Free Software
is more important than convenience or shiny.
But I think you miss one point: people were asking a lot by security updates.
And that is most
Hello. I can't report issue, but maybe somebody can report it :P
Unar is FOSS software to unpack archives - ZIP, 7zip etc. but also RAR (unrar
is not free software so ...).
We should add them to Trisquel ISO 8.0

Ok, maybe after all it seems to have serious problems this idea (from a
security perspective).
If tomorrow lots of people are willing to help Trisquel, they all have to
wait until their contributions are reviewed and merged from those that have
the authority to do so. A hybrid model
