I think the problem I might have with parabola is that it is a rolling
release and it'd be a bit scary for me to use on my new computer and
accidentally break it.
I unfortunately was not able to get a pre installed computer, but I created a
topic a little while back called New computer spec
CalmStorm, the irony is strong with this one XD, I'll consider testing
trisquel instead, I just got back from vacation
I am glad that has been your experience.
I haven't found a single example of a GNU/Linux system crashing, ever, except
for cases where the hardware itself was at fault (e.g. overheating which
caused the CPU to shut itself down, or hardware that the kernel just doesn't
support properly, such as my current laptop which freezes up if y

I suppose it was directed at me then. I found it sounded quite angry as well.
You may want to consider the way you
Unfortunately, any WebKit browser is currently insecure on just about any
distro that isn't rolling-release. A user who is interested in using Midori
on Trisquel can fix that by installing the WebKit PPA. Maybe Trisquel could
merge that PPA in with its repository as well, but I don't know if

Unless "damage" just refers to normal wear and tear from using t

The synaptic package manager is not existant at the moment. But it is
interesting to look at. :)
I'm pretty sure not. Ubuntu doesn't actually contain any proprietary stuff by
default, except for firmware. Replacing the kernel with a free one gets rid
of that. That said, this isn't an official statement.
Also, is the new ISO worth downloading? I'd like to have a look, but I'll
wait if i
Easy, I wasn't trying to anger you.
I just was trying to figure out if it was safe to install on my machine
directly. ie if it could do irreversible damage, but now that you have
answered me. I am satisfied.
No need to take it personally.
When it is beta i will install directly probably.
Dillo for Trisquel mini is my two cents.
It does have its limitations, but those limitations make it safer for
newbies.
I also like Sylpheed for email.
Yes, there should be a Trisquel mini version again. But Midori should only be
the default browser again when this crucial bug is fixed:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/trouble-ssl-midori-trisquel-mini
And Trisquel mini should contain Claws as email program, it is better than
Sylpheed.
I guess Abrowser is one of the most important/ most used programs in
Trisquel, and it is one of this distro's few distinctive programs. For over a
month now this basic program has not been able to perform as basic a task as
streaming audio files. Seemingly because Trisquel can not keep up wit
It should be safe to install (the worst that could happen is the installation
not working), but you probably don't want to install it on a real machine
right now. Better to go with a VM.
This is a nonsensical thing to say and I grow tired of people saying it.
"Stable" means one of two things: either that it doesn't crash normally, or
that it isn't going to change. It's obvious that you mean the former. But
Trisquel was never unstable in this sense, regardless of what kind of
There is https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/ubuntu/rrutter but it may
contain proprietary software (or even malware). I have not checked. Even if
the repository does not contain proprietary software, it could tomorrow and
have you install it along an apparently trifling update.
Well I figured as much, I do have my important files on other storage
devices, I just wondered in general, if it could be a hazard to my
computer... ie, doing irreversible damage if I installed it directly on my
computer...
thanks for the advice though. :)
Sounds like you should keep it in virtual, on a flash drive, or on a machine
whose hard drive contains nothing important.
Dunno, it is bizarre though.
Ah okay, but it is missing things isn't it?
I still though want to wait till beta. at least, just in case. :) I wonder
how many months it will be before that.
I've been running it for a while now and it is already VERY stable.
Parabola is a rolling release and in my experience, they break easily when
they are Rolling RELEASE!
which makes me wonder why microsoft made windows 10 rolling RELEASE...
its like they said, we want the newest and latest and greatest even if it
causes most people's computers to break.
and
yes it does, I have seen the website. so yep.
Feel free to email me when it is beta. and this goes for anyone who wants to.
When it is beta, i will try it. until then, no way in Hell... will i do that.
Very alpha. There are quite a few packages missing or uninstallable at this
point. I did install it and it ran.

The reason for recommending parabola for wifi testing is the much newer
kernel than trisquel. If you have wifi on parabola but don't on trisquel then
you'll know you simply need a kernel update on trisquel. If you don't have
wifi on both then you'll need a new wifi card/usb wifi.
Debian Main is free software, the only problem with it is you can very very
easily lose that freedom by adding contrib and non-free. Leah went
thermonuclear and is doing things pretty unprofessionally now. Far as i can
tell she is trying to balance not promoting the fsf with still giving

My advice would be
1. Definitely go preinstalled, way less hassle because everything "just works"
2. Avoid dual booting if at all possible, or have windows on a completely
separate machine from your gnu/linux one.
3. Definitely run a FSF recommended distro or at worst, Debian. Why? Because

I'd also like to ask you please stop putting a generic password on grub for

Lovely wallpapers. I'm a minimalist so my top votes go to 11 and 12. However
maybe its just me but the edges on those two are not perfectly smooth, is
that how it is on the original logo?
