openprinting.org is dedicated to printing whereas h-node.org encompasses all
hardware. Openprinting's printer -and knowledge- base is so huge that it

> WPS office is a proprietary software, right?
Right, it is, which should answer your question with a resolute "No."
Proprietary software can of course be useful to some ends, but no amount of
usability can justify the injustice that is the violation of users' freedom.
Wondering if anyone can suggest newer model Document Feed scanners that will
work on Trisquel out of the Box???
As far as I know WPS office is a proprietary software, right? It does work
pretty good, though.
But is it worth using? Does it really applies as an trustful software? Never
seem any discussion about this matter. Shall We begin a?
I am very satisfied with Rockbox! I run it on an iPod Classic 6th Generation
160GB.
Will do. Thanks!
That's all very helpful. Thanks!

I tried to sign up but it wouldn't work. Is it out yet?
I see, so with 6 cores, I'd have plenty.
It's definitely going to be a desktop system, nothing with many VMs or
simultaneous connections.
Besides having an empty CPU spot feeling itchy,
I'll probably go with the "1 CPU, 1 quiet fan/heatsink" (gotta check the
measurements again).

I like what you're doing here onpon4 and I wish you luck in this endeavour,
as I think it could be a very good example of how Free Software game
development can be done. I like the concept as well.
I successfully use an iPod Video 5th Gen (80Gb) with rockbox. It works really
well and holds all of my music.
Banana Pi is based on Raspberry Pi (I think Orange Pi too) and it uses Uboot.
It's also supported by Parabola. Raspberry Pi is libre hardware, but it uses

In some cases DOT Matrix is a necessary evil. If you need to print on
carbon-copy forms and have the print go through all copies this is the only
way to efficiently achieve it. You could also use a type-writer or Bic...but
I digress.
The best thing I can suggest is looking at what new model
Multi-threaded (aka parallel) applications take advantage of several cores...
but, currently, almost no desktop application is multi-threaded. Mozilla,
with its dozens of developers, is only starting to split Firefox into *two*

In abrowser, go into about:config and set 'media.libavcodec.allow-obsolete'
to 'True'. Restart abrowser and it will no longer issue that warning. I
suspect that upstream firefox disables older libavcodec implementations for a
very good security reason, but I'm too busy to research that at the

It is simply that pulseaudio is buggy as hell is Jessie. All you need to do
to get rid of the bugs is purge pulseaudio (which you don't need) so you can
use the amazing awesome jolly great alsa.
sudo apt purge pulse audio

I don't know what kind of compatibility you are looking for. Dot matrix
printers are not well suited for graphics printing, including host-rendered
custom fonts, so the best course is using one of the the printer's onboard
fonts, which minimizes compatibility issues. I had once used OKI

Think Penguin doesn't sell dot matrix printers. I don't know why the OP wants
one, but it's a very particular (old style) type of printer and not really
similar to any of Think Penguin's offerings.
