Wifi cards require firmware, i.e., code executed on the card's processor (not on the main processor). Every Wifi chipset needs a different firmware. Nowadays, this firmware usually is in the kernel and uploaded to the Wifi card. Like any software, this firmware ought to be free.

Thanks. I was just lucky to find one on a site for buying and selling used stuff. I was double lucky as I was permitted to borrow the display to check its compatibility. What I did was to open the chassis and check the maker and product number and compare to the ones listed by libreboot.

even some atheists found that book according to wikipedia to be flawed. as in it would do no good for anyone. by the way, you should look up to see on different articles why those people felt that way.

The Tor Browser Bundle I downloaded came with a .desktop file in the to-level directory. IIRC, I just copied it to ~/.local/share/applications.
