IceCat! IceDove, GIMP, etc. are not included into Trisquel 8.0 package repositories. Also some packages from xenial are already outdated. I have a problem with installing KDE5 Plasma on LiveCD. Installation should be done in tty and then mate-session should be killed using SIGKILL (9).

Okular gives me a caution "This document has XFA forms, which are currently unsupported."; I attached a picture. Did you get this message onpon? I'll try out some forms with Okular now.

I undoubtedly have a newer version than you do, but no, I don't. If Okular doesn't work for you, try some of the other suggestions at this website from FSFE: https://pdfreaders.org/ There must be at least a few that support typing into forms.

Have any of you tried to open said pdf with libreoffice? and then saved it under a libreoffice draw format? That worked for me once. Unless I am missing something.

I may have finally figured it out... I need to setpref after getting into gpg2 --edit-key (then key name) and then type setpref AES256 SHA512 ZLIB MDC then it gets changed to that. kind of odd
