The Visual Studio Code binary from Microsoft is proprietary. It uses the
MIT-licensed source code available at https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode as
its base, however it contains changes that are not distributed.

This is not true

It hasn't been approved yet, and I doubt it will be accepted.
Yes! What an awesome thing to look at 4:34 AM. It makes me want to make a cup

chaosmonk, I've just read it. Oh, what a shame.

See this bug.[1] Micro$oft doesn't just distribute a proprietary binary; they
falsely tell users that it is free and open source on the download page[2] for
the binary. The fix is simple: either (a) remove the
This makes me smile :)
I think that the problem is that the majority of potential vscode users don't
mind about freedom. So they will get proprietary software from Microsoft,
which misleads them by calling it 'open-source', and uses the power of the
community to make non-free software.
I believe that everyone shoul
Is guix more stable then Parabola or more unstable then Parabola or as

I've never trie Guix. I was intimidated by the installation instructions. How
was the installation?
Nice to hear such pleasant words after a long, hard day/week/month/year/life
of work. Grab the proper ISO (I'm always seeding it via torrents as long as
this laptop is online) and have fun fellow friend.
Peace.
I never tried it. Here's my chance to learn something new!
I did it like you said and nothing changed. Sadly.
But there is a way to have a pure openbox session without further LXDE
components (like the panel) running! Just log out, change your session to
"Openbox" during the login prompt and
Thank you so much. You know what? You are the best
You can laugh it but when i delete 'lxde' word from 'openbox-lxde' is that
gonna be pure openbox? ;P
No problem with the language, I could understand everything you said.
I'm not a Trisquel maintainer, only a fan and a user, so don't take my word
for it: I think the Sources ISO is there so people can have one big archive
of the necessary code used for building the final product. Or so they c
I mean the thing that i want to say is, can i install trisquel with openbox
using sources iso? Sorry for my bad english again
Apparently nobody had anything productive to say (or maybe these people are
more "open-source-oriented" and don't care about software freedom, as long as
unobfuscated code is available?). I have, however:
It's up to the program authors to decide, what license do they release it

No, only thing that i want to know was about openbox, not lxde. :D By the
way, sorry for my bad english. Thank you so much for the answers.
The "Sources ISO" contains only source codes of the software that is normally
available. Well, I lied to you a little bit - there are also some other files
related to the way packaging works. This post has some information:

It is interesting that the only one comment that raises the question of
justice and freedom (maybe not as directly, as needed) doesn't get any reply.

He shouldn't have written "free of charge" too, but basically he thinks in
Is that could be lxde? Because it's based on openbox. I don't want to
download wrong file because it's going to take long time to download. My
internet is too slow ;d

Hopefully this explains everything. My opinion: don't give up, grab the code,
compile it and enjoy an awesome libre IDE.
A quick look and I can see three files inside the iso having "openbox 3.6.1"
in their names. I hope this sentence is self-explanatory.
Is there openbox inside 'Sources DVD' iso? I did check netinstall but there's
only kde, lxde and mate.
VSCode is an Electron program. Electron includes a huge amount of code
derived from Chromium, so it is in the same undetermined state as it.
Therefore, many of us do not use Chromium, Etcher, Riot Desktop or
VSCode.

Disabling non-free repositories by default is not enough to be a
freedom-respecting distro. Trisquel also does not guide users toward

From what I'm reading, exfat is supposed to be read-write compatible with all
Mac OS versions after "Leopard", which was apparently released in about 2007.
My wife uses a Mac at work, and she never has problems with her exfat thumb
drives when using it.
Hello, xfhgdz :)
Run this: sudo [your editor of choice] /etc/apt/sources.list
sources.list is where links to those repositories are written in. I changed

This is a part of the license that implies to the 'product'. The source code

This is curious, I am surprised...
Draconian laws indeed, how can they be considered free trade agreements? They
are clear not free at all. DCMA is evil anyways.
I also wondered in advance the installation of trisquelgnu/linux8 if the
playback of encrypted dvd's might be possible or not. The required package
libdvd-pkg belongs to contrib/non-free repositories. Because trisquel being a

Hi, there,
I'm looking for an IDE for python. VS code is going very well and I want to
have it in my system. According to the FSF website it's free, but I have my

For GNU/Linux, you need to install exfat-fuse (and optionally exfat-utils).
For Windows, you need at least Vista (already obsolete).
For OS X, I know nothing.
