Take a look at 'xbindkeys', 'xev' and 'amixer'. You should be able to work
something out.
Thanks Magic Banana, it runs perfectly (and u saved me some time since I
don't have to compile on my own).
I also really like a TPRB extension which blocks requests to 3rd party domain
without my consent - it's really cool and convenient to use ! I was not aware
of this extension till now.
Thank you. Unfortunately, I have already tried that with no success.
Instead I have opted to reinstall without following the guide for encrypted
/boot. I installed with encryption as I normally do, i.e. using the
installer. The laptop boots rapidly and without issues now.
At least I know ha
Rekonq is working OK for me as a standin when Abrowser strikes out on some
webpages,
such as cPanel in a previous thread, but it's now insisting that I set a
default
search engine, but ignores that I have already selected one ...
Suggestions are welcome.

My grub difficulties are minimized when I run "sudo update-grub" upon
restarting after any
change in my HDD hardware, such as adding a USB-connected hard drive or flash
drive. That
makes the next restart uneventful.
