Trisquel Etonia is based on Ubuntu 18.04, which is from 2018. This means the
software packaged in it is about two to three years old, so it's to be
expected that you don't get the newest versions of software.

i am wondering why Trisquel dont include an up-to-date Enlightenment.
Is it because some additional software isn't free?
The new E is available in version 0.23 but Trisquel Etiona only got 0.17
The human intervention is to adapt the script to the new version (or write it
in the first place).

you describe exactly a scenario in which you would use the thing you’re
looking for and how it works in that case?
Scripts help tremendously, but removing all proprietary bits requires
manual human intervention. It is similar to deblobbing the kernel.
