My touch-pad doesn't work after resuming from hibernation in MATE desktop. I
have to reboot my computer in order for touch-pad to be able to work.

I think that Trisquel's MATE settings are probably not the cause of whatever
you're experiencing, unless you have mate-settings-daemon running during your
GNOME session for some reason. Look at "System Monitor" and see if m-s-d is
running.

I made the mistake of opening 'mate tweak' to see what it does. Now it's
stuck in redmond mode with no option to go back to my original settings.

A backup wasn't taken. Is there a way to go back to the original desktop
settings ?

Trisquel has no GNOME flavor, and does not customize GNOME's settings, AFAIK.
