I had to write the iso slowly; chunks of 1M or more didn't work:
dd staus=progress if=IMAGENAME.iso of=/dev/DEVICE bs=512k; sync
worked for me.
But why can Debian do it out-of-the-box?! I cannot find out what Debian does
differently. It's not x.org, and no RandR-script.

I have the same problem with *buntu 14.04 but not with Debian 7 and 8. I have
the same problem with different hardware.
The problem:
When booting a laptop that is connected to a projector (=dual monitor)
I manage my e-mail successfully (fetchmail + ssmtp + mutt).
But what do we do about a bug in a main package of Trisquel 7.0? Maintaining
it until 2019? The standard e-mail application is crucial - if it doesn't
work, people won't use Trisquel. This is why I'm searching for a solution.
