I'm able to. Try highlighting a workspace name, then click it with
the right mouse button or press enter key to start renaming it.
Sorry forgot to mention this is in 4.5 x86_64...

In the workspace switcher properties you are suppose to be able to rename the
workspaces and you can't, also everything that comes after the 3rd workspace
that you add gets named 'Workspace' and you can't remove that name and just
leave it as a number;
