to my software sources.
I installed libusbx-1.0.18 (built it from the source package). My data
acquisition program doing control and bulk transfers on a Measurement
Computing device works fine. See

The reason is simply Trisquel 6 is based on Ubuntu 12.04.
You can see if upstream versions are still free software and if the present
libraries are new enough to run them. (Note that if you manually install
something outside the package manager, it will not get automatic updates.)
