You could also go to Control Center -> Appearance -> Fonts and change
"Application font" to a larger size.

I also struggled with that, my solution was to have a thick panel at the
bottom for menus and programs shortcuts, and a thin one on top of that for
the windows. Being both of the same color it doesn't look as bad. But I
