thanks
I guess I misread the entry for 8800. Added a page for it, and hope I did it
right as this is my first time working with a wiki. Here is a link to that

Hello, I've found the 8800 GT but not the 9800 GT listed at h-node. Can you
please indicate me where you have found it? If it is not listed, can you please
The card is listed as totally not supported. So in order to get reliable 3D
acceleration I'd have to buy a new motherboard. Cool...
Thank you grvrulz, I'll take a look. The card is NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT.
What is your graphic card model? Have you checked it at h-node.com? If not,
then please check there if it's listed or not. :)
There must be some way to make this work. I'm not a programmer and I can't
fix this kind of stuff. Trying to work with a free system is getting very
frustrating. I can see people talking on this forum but no one has any help
for me.
Okay, actually, problems not solved. I did install the mesa package mentioned
in the Trisquel 4.5 release notes to enable the 3D functions on my graphics
card, but every time I run something that uses 3D, the entire system locks up
and I have to power it off. Running programs in the terminal
3D support added in Trisquel 4.5, my problems solved. Sorry for the
disruption, and thank you!
I didn't remove nouveau - I simply activated the nv driver. But the fact that
nouveau is buggy might be a reason for someone to want to remove it.

That's ok, but why do you want to remove nouveau anyway? Does it
interfere with nv in any way?
I'm not using the nouveau driver either as I find the nv driver is better on
Trisquel 4.0 for video playback.
Nope, but maybe now. (Sorry about the spamming, btw)
Let's see if it is fixed...
I'll take a look to the duplicates problem.

Why would you want to do that?
Removing the package you list is not dangerous at all. They all are
metapackage, i.e., packages that only exist to group a bunch of others for
convenience. For instance, trisquel depends on the whole default system
(hence installing it will install this default system) but, by itself, it
do

We are very sorry you do not want to make the necessary effort to be
free. Please count on us if you do.
I don't think Trisquel is going to work for me. Thanks anyway.
Okay, for some reason this forum is duplicating my posts
I tried to uninstall nouveau files with Synaptic but it claims EVERYTHING on
the system will be removed if I do that. Why does the entire system rely on
this one driver?
Well, searching a little with your package manager easily gives you the
involved package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
I believe you want to remove it.
Hi, how can I remove nouveau driver and related files from the installed
system? Thanks.
