The price.. good Lord
At first glance the price does indeed seem expensive. However, when searching
online for the price, it seems that this router is sold new for at least 139
dollars, so minifree's product is competitively priced.
Apparently, u-boot can be upgraded within LibreCMC if you build the correct
image (if the default build does not already support this - I do not know).
Hopefully, the minifree versions will support this feature (and provide links
to working u-boot images).
Discord is non-free software...
Palemoon is just as free as Firefox or Seamonkey - if you build these with
different icons then the binary file can be free software (e.g. Iceape and
IceCat/Abrowser are free), but if you use the compiled binaries provided they
are not.
16 TB hard dries have also been announced:

I don't recommend add-ons that invert colors as these don't work well on some
websites (and might become unusable in future releases as well if they aren't
maintained).
My advise is to find a dark (but not too dark as black background is not
fully compatible with some websites) system GTK
80 Euros is awfully expensive for shipping a 38 EUR product worldwide. Isn't
it possible to ship using cheaper international mail carrier (e.g. EMS or
registered mail)?
Is this also true for websites that require PhantomJS (e.g. Openload)?
You should try to stay on the old version.
https://jxself.org/versionitis/
Using the old version is fine as long as the distro you are using provides
security updates in a timely manner (which unfortunately means discarding all
programmes provided in Trisquel from Ubuntu's user repository
If you open a lot of tabs you can use an add-ons that suspend unused tabs
such as these ones which can significantly reduce memory consumption:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-tab-discard/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/dormancy/
The add-ons are freely licensed. You can see this when you open the pages I
provided.
If you run "cd ~/" you will compile the driver in your home directory. If you
want to compile it somewhere else then just cd to that directory instead. To
build in home directory just remove this text "#or whatever directory you
want to use for this build".
The instructions will compile
Rather than rebooting or shutting down I recommend killing the process with
the most memory usage - something like alt+ctrl+printscreen+f should get the
job done.
Do you mean the country flag corresponding to the keyboard layout? If so just
search online for "lxde keyboard layout country flag" and you should find
info on how to configure it.
Middleton's BIOS isn't more free than the factory BIOS, and it might be worse
security-wise
What makes you think it is less secure than the original BIOS? It sounds like
FUD to me.
Any "rogue" firmware modified by 3rd party can never be trusted.
Sounds like FUD to me. The original firmware can be trusted even less as it
includes the wireless firmware whitelist antifeature. If I understand
correctly the 3rd party BIOS images are made by disassembling the stock
BIOSes
The problem is we do not know anything about the proprietary firmware. It
could have been as well programmed to perform malicious tasks. Or, which is
give or less the same, it could have been written terribly, full of (sec)
bugs, and therefore exploitable. Trouble is also most firmware gets
Which printer model are you using?
Is the hardware wireless switch in the "on" state?
Wireless not working was discussed recently so you're not the only one who
missed turning on the hardware switch.
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/wifi-disabled-permanently-fresh-install-trisquel-mini-librebooted-thinkpad-x60
Do you have any information on how to do this?
You can try Middleton's BIOS:
thinkwiki.org/wiki/Middleton%27s_BIOS
Triskel is (as far as I know) simply an option when using the net install
which installs all KDE packages - this can also be achieved by installing a
basic system using the net install and then installing the KDE packages once
you are done. It is not an official Trisquel version unlike LXDE
Try
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
Same as these bug reports:
issues.hyperbola.info/index.php?do=details_id=1140
bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=859346
You can get the Middleton img file for X61 from here:
www.benou.fr/~ben/updating-thinkpad-x61-bios.html
www.benou.fr/~ben/bin/bios.img.xz
Did you try the method which was posted here?

I tried extracting the archive mentioned with unar version 1.10.1 on
Hyperbola and I encountered the same errors. The cause of the issue is that
some RAR files cannot be extracted using unar although most files should work
fine as unar does support newer versions of the RAR format.
Battery charging has to be defined in the BIOS since you want be able to
discharge the battery when you access the BIOS settings on battery power
alone. You can override the hardware settings directly from GNU/Linux using
tp_smapi according to the wiki page I provided a link to.
I'm not sure how libreboot handles UltraBay batteries but according to this
wiki the regular BIOS actually first depletes the UltraBay battery before
using the normal battery. You might find the settings you are after in the
wiki as well.
thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_use_UltraBay_batteries
AR5424 doesn't support N speeds so I wouldn't bother with it.
Does Trisquel contain a new enough version of WebKit to meet Midori's
requirement (Hyperbola doesn't)?
Midori released new releases in the last 6 months - versions 6.0 and 7.0 use
a newer WebKit. You can install it via Snap:
github.com/midori-browser/core
There's also a newer version of Icecat (60.3) which you can install manually
by unpacking the tar.bz2 file:
I could run it from a tarball but I'm not savvy enough to install it from
one.
You just need to unpack the tarball and run the icecat file from the folder.
$ cd icecat-directory
$ ./icecat
Hello Vikings, could you please answer the questions raised in this thread?
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/new-fsf-certified-libreboot-workstations-available-viking-under-1000-euros-8-core-amd-opteron-
You can also try other maintained WebKit based browsers, such as
Epiphany/GNOME Web (note that there might be differences between QtWebKit and
WebKitGTK+/WebKit2GTK+ rendering engines).
Try toggling the hardware wireless switch.
By hardware switch I mean a physical button on the laptop you need to toggle
which needs to be in the "on" position. Nothing about a hardware switch
appears in your first post.
Does it support .ape files?
I just tested a sample from the site below and it works fine in Hyperbola's
packaged version of audacious.
http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/A-codecs/lossless/
Try watching/downloading it using streamlink. Streamlink supports multiple
connections (in this example I used 8) which can prevent buffering:
streamlink --loglevel debug --hls-segment-threads 8 --hls-segment-timeout 100
--hls-timeout 600 --hls-playlist-reload-attempts 10 --hls-live-edge 3
streamlink is a new fork of livestreamer which can be found in the repos.
Monkey's Audio (*.ape) is not a free-as-in-freedom format.
There are free implementations of Monkey's audio in Rockbox, ffmpeg and a
JAVA one called JMAC (audacious's implementation is probably based on one of
these three). The main issue with the format is high CPU usage while
decoding,
I bet it could run .ape files too.
mpv uses ffmpeg, so if your installed version of ffmpeg supports Monkey's
audio so will mpv.
Did you try this?
https://libreboot.org/docs/gnulinux/grub_boot_installer.html
NoScript works fine in Pale Moon - a warning message appears in the add-ons
section (NoScript is known to cause issues) which you can simply ignore.
You can try other browsers with NPAPI support, such as those based on Pale
Moon/New Moon, Seamonkey/Iceape, Waterfox, Basilisk, Epiphany (GNOME Web) or
Midori.
Is there a recommended one?
I know Etnaviv supports some SoCs with Vivante GPUs.
https://github.com/etnaviv/etna_viv
Do any of these boxes support free boot firmmware? Also, which distributions
can be installed on such boxes (I assume Debian supports some of them)?
If you have a direct link to the channel you should be able to record using
streamlink, wget/save as, ffmpeg. youtube-sl/hypervideo, plowshare or some
other free software.
Your computer will only be vu;nerable if you use a non-standard configuration
which allows a user to run commands as other non-root users. If this is the
case (which is unlikely) simply change it.
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/14/linux_sudo_security_bug/
You can install youtube-dl without pip (just make sure you remove the package
from the repos beforehand and that you have a suitable version of python
installed):
sudo curl -L https://yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl -o
/usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
sudo chmod a+rx

You can reset your user password by chrooting using a live CD:

You can also access the mobile version of Reddit by replacing
"www.reddit.com" with "i.reddit.com".
Maybe this post will help you out:
https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/set-sis-graphics-1024x768-l-ubuntu-mate-14-04-and-16-04-16-10/3553
Glad it worked out. You might be able to compile the old sis driver which was
available in older Ubuntu/Trisquel releases although you might not see an
actual performance improvement.
I use this addon with Mozilla browsers that support legacy extensions (the
extension integrates saved passwords with GNOME keyring):

No need to upgrade evolution on Hyperbola - just upgrade gnutls, nettle and
libidn2,

Try NoScript.

(the other party also used Blink but on Windows).
