I just tried it and the stuff does verify with your public key from the public keyrings. You should get someone to sign your key eventually (next week at ApacheCon, we should all sign each others keys). For those without keys (like myself), it's probably a good idea to create ones ahead

Jeremy, I have to give it a -1 right now. Lately, the incubator PMC's have been requiring ALL artifacts to be properly digitally signed, including those going into the maven repository. Thus, you need to sign all the stuff you put up there and then add a KEYS file or similar into svn with
