As the husband of a teacher (who is also a Simpsons fan), we both were Mrs
Krabappel fans on many levels, and loved the way Ms Wallace took the
cartoon equivalent of a character actor and elevated her up (the real life
example I'd use is Kellye Nakahara on M*A*S*H).
