The new detective series on FX is set on the beach communities of San Diego, where I lived until recently. The show is average, but (and I experienced the same problem when I watched one season of "24") I get annoyed when they screw up the geography. I know what is around a corner when they are driving, then they do a jump cut to an entirely different community. And whenever they drive past the Ocean Beach Pier (at least two times in the pilot), they are driving in a parking lot and pretending it is a street (the parking lot dead-ends, by the way, so they were technically driving from nowhere). Nitpicky, I know, but that's the way it is.
So far, I can't tell if the series is shot in Ocean Beach or if they just filmed a lot of establishing shots there, then cut to some other location with the stars.
