To add a bit more usefulness to this, I'd suggest adding some sort of
Bayesian filter and domain white/black listing.
Just my 2 cents. Great idea though.

have the time sync initialized on the server I use and it was 2 hours

Outside of trends, another area where this could be handy is when
using Twitter as a sort of OpenId style authentication method. i.e.
"Sign in with your twitter account".
