I have used dropdown sitemap on many occasions and I neved had to use
typoscript, but flexform config was enough. Did you check that - there
is the "Pages" where you can exclude for example "not in menu".

Are you using an RTE?
We've had that problem, but disabling the RTE seemed to solve it.

When I am putting ordinary text content on a "normal" page I have no
problem in making paragraphs. When I make "news", I see the paragraphs
in the BE but all formating is gone in the frontend.
