problems, so don't worry. Just remember to make good organization of
cattegorys, installing god extensions (they can help a lot) and creating
backup(they can be very handy sometimes:) )

2,000,000 new records per year.
Is TYPO3 capable to handle so many records efficiently?

I have resolved #3. The issue comes up because when creating the tt_news
item, I was setting the website to be http://www.externalsite.com. This
renders everything correctly within Typo3 but the RSS it generated was
http://http://www.externalsite.com. If I set the tt_news item link to
www.externals
I found it. But it was already blank. So I don't understand where the
target="_blank" is being set.

Make sure the page containing the single tt_news view (in this case 88) has
group rights for showing the page.
Also place the following line in the TSConfig of the news sysfolder:
