okay this is very lame i didn't check it but i write it maybe somebody
else will run tino this problem. The problem was, i had to enable the
usage of rte for the backend users in their setup in the backend as for
some reason it seems if you upgrade from such an old version it's
disabled

after some more research it seems that since i upgraded php to 5.2 (as
in php5 package in debian stable) the rte stoped working in ALL my typo3
3.6.2 sites on this server. I tried to upgrade one to 4.1.7 as mentioned
before but can't get the rte back. Switchign on troubleshooting mode

i run into a "little" problem whle upgrading an old site from 3.6.2 to
first 4.1.7 then 4.2.1. The problem is rte disappeared, neither the (now
sysext) rtehtmlarea nor tinyrte works, i just see plain textareas. I
deleted everything from typo3temp/, i removed rtehtmlarea from
