Hello,
I am already all day, but I can not get the search box working on my site
the searchbox works fine if I insert it as a plugin with the page module.
but if I insert it with TS on my default template I just see the
searchform and if I insert an

Im not sure if you have done this, but try
1. delete all files in typo3temp + temp_* files in typo3conf
2. clear cache
3. reimport locale using Translation feature from ExtentionManager

did you checked the image (testing) section in the install tool?
if it works there then you problem lays somewhere eles,
if not you get some error messages which might be helpful

Try that one (its the second one) and use CSS classes
you can still link the images, just use the nescessary (xHMTL) code
instead of the words English, Danish, Russen

you could try the base dir setting...
as far as I know there was an additional setting for the domain to link
to, but im not sure wheter it was in the Install Tool or on Config Editor

I noticed something simular and explaind it to myself that tt_news on
every single page generates a new cache entry as the backpid is always
different...
but I also noticed that most of the files were very small, but it took
forever deleting via ftp :( ~25.000 files
I did not investigate yet
maybe you have to put it in constant section of main template ?

None that I know...
but I always use a "hidden" single view page as a suppage of my list page:
eg:
+list
|--singleview (hidden in menu)
if you configure it right, the user doesn't even notice that he is on the
suppage as he can't see the difference

I checked with opera: >1 min
It seems that the last part of the source can't get loaded:
* last linebreak is not yet vissible (the closing div)
* shows information: 30% loaded 14/14 elements --- 4,2 kB/sec
* it is impossible to see source code (until page is loaded completely)
