I don't want to move you in the wrong direction, but did u try to use
ImageMagick instead of GraphicsMagick?
I have a WAMP local installation and it works fine with ImageMagick.

No, I didn't. The Typo3Winstaller comes with GraphicsMagick
preinstalled, so I thought...
And I would like to use GM instead of IM as it should be better,
faster and more featurerich (supporting more formats, that is...).
If I'm wrong please let me know...

sorry I never used Typo3Winstaller and/or GraphicsMagick so I have no
experience with it.
What I can suggest you is to post some more detail about the problem.
Maybe someone else can help you.
By instance, if you tried to use the Install Tool "4: Image Processing",
what happened? C
