Hi all,
I am slowly getting more familiar with Typo3. If I understand it
correctly (also thanks to Dmitry), extensions should use templates with
tags for the texts. The tags are retrieved from locallang.xml files. If
I want to add a language, I should translate the locallang.xml file and
send

You are well. But "default" is always English as far as I know. So,
you are effectively changing English labels here.

Yes, download "llxmltranslate".

It allows you to create your own versions of .xml files and stores it in
typo3conf/l10n/ which takes precedence over the default version.
