I've just spent a few hours trying to debug login problems on one
installation. This installation was 4.5.2 and configured with rsaauth and
saltedpasswords and worked fine until I upgraded. The problem turned out
to be permissions on typo3temp/sessions* folders. Currently my working

As Philipp already made it clear how to do it, here's the why. TSFE:page|
title will always hold the actual page title as seen in the backend.
Since your tt_news is probably configured to show news title instead of
page title in single view you probably expected the news title to load
with TSFE:
