You should probably try parseFunc for that. Don't know if you're using
some RTE or something, but it's explained here:

Could it be that your baseurl lacks a trailing slash? Then the link is
appended after the regular page, and this could give some strange links.

On this issue I totally agree, but AFAIK it is not possible atm.
Look at extensions that extend tt_news, they all build the xml from
scratch.

Sorry to hear that. Actually the TYPO3 community is a pretty close and
friendly one, with obviously some bad apples (which community hasn't)
and usually you should be able to get an answer.
