even the "deprecated global folder" is NOT my idea and it is NOT FUD (what

we run lots of global extension folders too.
We also used it for ages but since the

I wouldn't use the word just because of this message. I used it while
taking into account your other recent message ("Global Extension folder

Please be a bit mroe serious and concerned and test it yourself first before
using words like FUD!
I won't write this if we would be able to use the newsadmin in 4.4.1 in a
global install but unfortunately we can't.
Beside the fact that this message pops up:

Could you please tell me/us what is the problem with tt_news when
installed globally?

Hi again
I just received a message from Jeff telling me that the global extension
folder might be deprecated in future. hmm!
Could anybody give a statement about this to would be nice - if yes, than it
would be advised to use only local folders in future and update each typo3
installation separat
Yes Ron
Actually TYPO3 provides a GLOBAL Installation ext folder
It is here: typo3_src-4.4.1/typo3/ext
If you change this folder to be a symlink than you can keep the extensions
installed into this folder also after a new sourcecode Update.
i.e.
var/globalt3/typo3conf/ext

Hello,
I caught this thread late, but I do have a question about allowing multiple
installations to share the same extension folder,
If you are set up this way and update an extension and that update requires a
database update, then you still have to go to each installation to update those

You can use "symlinks" on Windows based servers (WinVista/WinServer 2008 +) as
well.
mklink /d "your:\virtual\path\here" "your:\real\path\here"

Hey everybody,
Is there a way to make several typo3 sites (on the same server) to use
the same typo3conf/ext folder ?
I know it's possible to use only one typo3_src folder with symlinks, but
the server's running on Windows. Is there a way around it ?
Thanks in advance,
Nicolas
