You can use appropriate host OS functions to copy/move the file to a more friendly name, then use UV to Read the new filename. You can use an OS function like "exists" to see if the file exists before doing the copy or read. Oh yes, and please post the name of whoever it was that architected the

I'm trying to read a text file with a key of ".lesskey.sbc" from a type 19 file, but the READ statement takes the ELSE clause even though the file exists and permissions are correct. The Unix file in question was not generated by the UV environment. Experimentation shows that when a record with a
