Thanks David. Do you have any statistics on the doing well and
best performing? Is this just true in Oz?
This is from presentations from IBM, I think the figures were around 11-12%
growth. We are also doing well selling in non traditional database
applications so we are developing
Hi all,
Running Universe on Redhat, how does one setup a user to be able to

Thanks

We are a UK distribution company looking to procure software capable of
handling the export shipping of goods and producing all the required
documentation/certificates. Does anyone use such software or know of a
UK based company that produces this type of application for the Universe
environment.
Peter,
I have had to set up an administrator accounts and I'm not necessarily happy
with this solution. There may be better ways to go out there. I've had to
create a user with UID 0 privileges. Universe requires super-user function
to be able to use the admin tools (SYSADM.MENU) and this was
Just as a follow up. This does include using UNLOCK. :)

I found my error. There was a program in Unidata that I had modified the day
before, that was throwing an error when run from this VB.NET program. This was
run as a Session.Command.Exec() through UniObjects. When it threw the error,
it killed the udt session for
Bob,
This is a known issue with UniVerse. To correct it, do the following:
1) CD to the uvhome/bin directory (check /.uvhome for uvhome path)
2) Backup original file: 'mv usrs usrs.orig'
3) Load in AIX 5.x version of the file: 'cp usrs.AIX5 usrs'
4) Log into UniVerse
5) Re-execute the LISTU
Hello All,
Does anyone know if there is a version of UniObjects for version 2.0 of
the .Net framework?

Yes. We are using UO.NET (from UniData 7.1) with C# and ASP.NET on the
2.0 .Net framework.
So far we haven't noticed any problems that are specific to version 2.0
in regards to UO.NET.

Bit of a newbie in Redhat here, do you have steps or the exact command
on how to create one of these users??
Thanks again,
Peter

Could you use sudo to avoid full admin rights but allow the UV admin
commands?

UV version 9.6.1.3 on Windows 2000.
When I use RESIZE to resize a file, I frequently get this error:
RESIZE: Error on POREQ. File not resized.
I generally CLEAR.FILE the file first, having saved off the records
elsewhere, but I get the error whether I CLEAR.FILE or not. Incidentally, I

Why not just set up a uvadm user?

It IS necessary to DIM it in the called routine, not to establish its size
(extent) but to establish the number of dimensions (1 or 2). In your example,
DIM matrix(1) would have been sufficient. But DIM matrix(50,2) would cause a
run-time error.

Are they dynamic hashed files (Type 30)? If so, use ANALYZE.SHM -t to
determine whether UniVerse believes any of them to be open.

Sure, but be EXTREMELY careful as you could REALLY screw things up.
You must be signed on as root to do this and have a terminal session open.
1. Type in vipw. This utility will open up the password file without
inappropriately locking it. You should see lines that look like:
John,
You can. In order for it to work though, you have to invoke a universe shell
for it to work. For example, you could telnet or ssh into your account and
type sudo /path/to/bin/uv, enter your password... or however you set up sudo
and you're now logged in as root. That completely avoids
No, I meant configuring sudo to be able to invoke list_readu (which is
what unlock calls)
