In UD you could do:
SETPTR 0,3,BANNER "HOLD_FILE_NAME",BRIEF
Where "HOLD_FILE_NAME" is whatever name you want the report to have in the

Precede your report command with the SETPTR command (such as SETPTR
0,132,60,0,0,3). In this example, mode is set to 3 which is for _HOLD_
output only.

Hi folks.
I'm pulling what little hair I have left out by the roots trying to
figure out what I thought would be a simple process from TCL. I just
want to be able to send an AD-HOC report to the HOLD file without having
to go through a PROC. I thought it was just going to be an SP-ASSIGN
command

Bob,
I'd suggest figuring out some way for the script to know which userid to
use (AIX environment variable? A udt variable? Change your EXECUTE to pass
the name in at the command line?). You could then modify your scripts to
'su' to the user before performing the restricted functions.

We have UniData 6.1.15 running atop AIX 5.2.
When a user has connected via the web and udcs, and runs applications that
do EXECUTE, the executed process is being run as root, not the user running
the application.
This creates havoc when running UNIX scripts that rely upon the users name

In the last 12 years I've lost a bunch of clients due to mergers or
'upgrades' to allegedly more modern systems.
With only one exception, each was a turn for the worse. The users bemoaned
the lack of features we have installed and while it looks 'pretty' with its
GUI interface, it is nice frosting

As of today, Taxware is a division of ADP.

With all of the changes in Unidata (over the years) we have been able to

original version. We interface to conveyor systems, built an EDI engine,
