UV on AIX
Is it possible to use UVBACKUP to backup to a file on the harddisk
rather than to tape? How do I set up the device to be a directory?
Thanks,
Linda Law

Hello,
I am trying to build a VMWare server running Solaris 10 and performing
a fresh install of Unidata 7.1.2 on this VM. However, I'm running in
some issues where accessory won't execute as part of the
./udtinstall script. ./udtinstall complains that it must be run as

Linda,
You don't *have* to reference a record in the DEVICE file. You can
just redirect output to any file. Something like this
find /your/acct/directory -print | uvbackup -f -v -
/your/backup/file
Does this help?

Also - 7.1 requires at least Solaris 4u architecture.
If you are trying to install on very old Solaris 4m architecture, you will
also get this error and will be unable to install UniData.

I don't understand. If the archive searching isn't working with this
index-in-focus thing, why don't they change it on the website to one
that DOES work? Doesn't anybody maintain u2ug.org?

JJ,
Actually, U2Ug.org is maintained by volunteers. We spend a lot of
our time, for no pay, doing that. If you don't like the level of
service, roll up you sleeves and volunteer so we have the staff needed
to keep up with improvements. IndexFocus, Nabble, and others freely help
