You are very correct I use a few of them on several files for auditing
of my universe files. It was tough for me as well to find but then I
found it they are the same commands whether its SQL tables or universe
files. Make sure nobody has the file open when you create them thou.

I am not sure what OS you are using but most back up software packages
have a snap shot system that allows you to back up open files. We also
replicate using double take, which I have talked to some people that
replicate then kill the replication backup and then turn replication
back on.

We have our users all login into an account and we specify UV account
when setting up the user. Our users are in the local user group on
machine and they have full rights to the data account, source code
account and the uv account. Works like a charm they are dropped right
into the account we want
Make sure your domain users are in the users group on the machine. Then
make sure on your data accounts and your uv account that your users have
full rights to the folders and files.

Just FYI occasionally I have the same issue in Windows but mine seems to
be fairly isolated to users I have made admin's of the box. It is very
rare that a normal users will have this problem. But if they do it
usually happens when the network drop connection to the computer.

We actually do both, distributed and 64bit files I think performance has
a lot to do with the algorithm you define to divide up the files. Done

I used ISA and have had very little issue. I am not sure based on this
email what OS level or version of ISA is running. There is also no
indication of how this server is published. Is the client in the network
that has ISA and trying to hit a server exposed to the web or the other
way around. What
We used to have this problem at one of our site but we added a domain
controller to that site and that took care of it. Do you have the same
problem if you log into the server using local admin or a local user
(setup on that server)

You just need to go into local computer policy and grant everyone logon
locally rights. Once this is complete they do not need to be
administrator. Also make sure that your uvtemp directory as the security
setup for everyone to have full right on top of wherever you uv install

they must have full rights to the directory they are login into and what
ever directory you have established for you temp directory. We don't use
home directory we use uv.account just because of the fact that we are on
a domain

This is set when you setup the session there is an option if you want to
use ctrl c and ctrl v. They can be setup a couple of ways. I recommend
creating a new session and selecting the option the user wants then

I have found that uvbackup is not the answer NT backup works but is not
very good on compression. No matter what you use I highly recommend St
Bernard's Open File Manager it makes sure you can backup all files.
