People interested in presenting a paper at S.Co.2009 are kindly invited to submit an abstract by APRIL 4th, 2009. PLENARY SPEAKERS - Michael Jordan, University of California Berkeley; - James O.Ramsay, McGill University; - Paolo Vidoni, Universita' di Udine; - Alastair Young, Imperial College London. ORGANIZED SESSIONS A list of organized sessions and confirmed speakers is available at the conference website (http://mox.polimi.it/sco2009). TOPICS Subject areas covered in the conference include: - Dynamic models: computational methods and applications; - Computational methods and Bayesian statistics; - Design and analysis of complex surveys; - Statistical methods in machine learning; - Functional data analysis; - Methods for multidimensional analysis of complex data; - Time series and spatial modeling; - Statistical methods for technology; - Likelihood inference in complex models. INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS A one page, text only, abstract should be submitted by April 4th, 2009 through the conference website (http://mox.polimi.it/sco2009). The Scientific Committee will notify to authors the acceptance of the paper by April 18th, 2009. After acceptance, a short paper of at most 6 pages should be submitted through the conference website by June 20th, 2009. DEADLINES - April 4th, 2009: abstract submission; - April 18th, 2009: notification of acceptance; - June 20th, 2009: short paper submission. CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS All accepted short papers will be published in the conference proceedings; during the conference the proceedings will be distributed to the participants. COLLECTIVE BOOK Pietro Mantovan and Piercesare Secchi are the editors of the collective book "Complex data modeling and computationally intensive statistical methods" (http://www.springer.com/statistics/computational/book/978-88-470-1385-8), that will appear on the series Contribution to Statistics published by Springer. This collective book will include about 15-20 long papers (15 pages) on the best advances on the topics object of the conference. Contributions to the book are open to all researchers, not only those coming to the conference. Prospective authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to Pietro Mantovan (pmant...@unive.it) and Piercesare Secchi (piercesare.sec...@polimi.it) before September 5th, 2009. The manuscripts should be prepared according to the Springer macros to be downloaded at http://www.springer.com/authors/book+authors?SGWID=0-154102-12-417900-0 under the heading Manuscript Preparation in LaTeX, zip file for contributed books. The language of the publication will be English. Contributions will be reviewed before final acceptance for publication.
