need some help with the top panel

Hi, I notice when I go to the top panel, sometimes I can use the arrow keys to hear volume control and so on. However most of the time this doesn't work. Is there a command I am suppose to use after getting to the top panel to expand dialog for this menu. Mike. -- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing l
