Hello list,
I have looked up the relevant commands on mounting my internal sata drive, but
neither:
mount /dev/sda1
or any variant thereof works. It says:

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
to start speech-dispatcher type
padsp speech-dispatcher -C /home/your_name/.speech-dispatcher/conf -d
Replace your_name with your username!
Make sure that this padsp speech-dispatcher command is running after pulseaudio
start.
Add it to gnome#s autostart!
HTH.

I'm not sure about the FTDI chip, but I connect my Braillenote with a
USB-Serial bridge.
Have you ried instructing brltty to connect through /dev/ttyUSB0?
sudo brltty -d serial:ttyUSB0
That worked for me.

Hi,
Is someone using BRLTTY successfully with a braille display connected to a USB
to serial adapter that has the FTDI chip?
I'm trying to get BRLTTY working with my PowerBraille 40 that is connected to
such an adapter, but haven't had any luck so far. Can someone help me with this?

Hi,
Try the following on a clean 9.04 installation:
Open a gnome-terminal
sudo aptitude install speech-dispatcher python-speechd
then run
spd-conf
and create a new configuration for your user.
select espeak as outputmodule
and port 6560.
select oss as sound output
start speech-dispatcher.
