I don't know, you would have to ask the members of the Unity 2D team at
canonical.

What of the new devices coming out that are Android phones that become Ubuntu
desktops when plugged in? I figured they'd use Unity 2d and that 3d would be
too much for that hardware. I also hoped it'd be Unity 2d since so much
progress was made on its accessibility.

If you believe it should be around for longer, then you are most welcome to
help maintain the code. Just because Canonical is discontinuing work on uni
Hi Luke,
So are we at least sure that Unity 2D will at least be maintained for
the next 6 months?
In that case we will have enough to use for next year or so on stable
production machines.
Talking about Vinux, I am just curious if we will have a ppa for 2D?
May be some one can then take up the
Hi Alex,
In that case it is more likely that some one would maintain it afterall.
Because if tablet manufacturers have an insentive to keep this going then there
maybe some hope for Unity 2D.
Happy hacking.

Hi, Luke,
Do you or, for that matter, any of the other members on this list know if the
terminal is accessible from Unity 3d? If so, all someone would have to do if
they want to keep up with the latest developments would be to install gnome
shell or, who knows, even KDE by that time using the

Hi all,
I've seen much discussion recently about the various desktop shells that are
available on Linux, particularly those that are accessible, or will be
accessible in the future. I think its worth outlining what shells we have,
their accessibility status, and their graphical hardware requirem

yes, GNOME terminal is accessible from Unity 3D, assuming the shortcut to load
GNOME terminal is set
Hi all,
So as some of you may have heard, Canonical has plans to stop maintaining unity
2D in future development cycles. This makes sense because spending double the
resources trying to keep 2 desktops in feature parity is a lot of work, and
those resources can be used much better elsewhere. The
Hi Tony.
I had a similar problem but it was solved removing the folloing folder:
.gconf/apps/metacity
It is present in your home directory.
I think that you need reboot the system after remove the folder.
Probably a good idea is to do a backup of the folder before the remove.
