This day my Ubuntu 12.04 system upgraded with Skype from 4.0.8 version
to 4.1.0.20 version, but the proposed repository awailable my system.
When the upgrade is happened, the old installed skype package are
removed my system, and a new skype-bin package are installed.

If you installed ubuntu using orca, unity 2d is configured by default.
In the login screen you can change to unity or to gnome-shell, but you
need to install gnome-shell.

I uncommented the start line from /etc/init/pulseaudio.conf
It's not enough.
1) in file /etc/pulse/system.pa locate line:
load-module module-native-protocol-unix
and change it to:
load-module module-native-protocol
