I'm using LibreOffice 3.5, and hav been doing so for a while now. I do not use 
calc, so can't speak to its accessibility, but writer works very well for me. 
Actualy, I think I did look at one sheet in calc, but I have almost never had 
need to use calc or its microsoft equivalent.
