I tried, and am very happy with Vinux.
It uses Ubuntu 10.4, and has orca.
It almost installed and works without my sight being needed.
I have to reboot orca via altplus F2; orca enter steps.

THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING why I have had such crappy luck with them, on my

Voxin, ttsynth, or what ever they call Viavoce should be avoided. They are 10
year old binaries with several nasty bugs. The people
speech at turn on and Orca navigation have been recurrent questions.
ok, I haven't seen anyone answering these two questions so here is an
attempt.

I had the no speak problem; cured by different things wrong.
Once was fixed by removing and reinstalling ORCA,
windows XP machine and JAWS, which
works with thunderbird fairly well, but not yet good enough for a blind
person, (my wife) to use. She uses Eudora.
I suspect that ORCA or maybe it is only the echo part of it,
interacting, that might causes other boxes, maybe not only passwords, to
fail Wil Herzog

still a problem for a blind guy to do that left click, and not get sent to a
