I installed the latest Linphone 4.1 from flatpak. I have one small
issue. It runs as Linphone superuser and the interface is inaccessible.
The command, which is used to run this app is:
/usr/bin/flatpak run --branch=4.1.1 --arch=x86_64 --command=linphone
--file-forwarding
Not to worry, not to compile!.
There is a PPA for Ubuntu that has latest or very close to latest
linphone.
I have used it for quite a while now on more than one distro, and the
linphone ppa for at least a year now I think. It has extra codecs as well
in it, all the infrastructure you need

Ubuntu 16.04 has old Linphone 3.6.1 version, but in this version is a
bug with appli button in account guide. Are you using this software? I
want to compile the 1.9.1 from source, but Ubuntu has older intl-tool,
so I get error in ./configure script. Or can you recommend me other

I use linphone daily, mostly from the linphonc commandline interface, but
occasionally from the graphical interface.
It is the best and most accessible SIP phone available in my opinion, and think
most screenreader users agree.
