Hi, I found a very basic install of ubuntu that I decided to experiment with.
It is for netbooks, but seems to run fine on my laptop. In this version you
have to install the programs you want. I need open office 3, and wondered if
anyone knows if this can be obtained with aptitude? Or do I have

Hi, what is the best way to get open office 3 for intrepid. I know it wasn't
included with the release, so is there a file that can be downloaded to install
it in intrepid.
One other thing. I see they started with the production of the new version of
ubuntu a little early. Has anyone tri

No, it won't. It was unfortunately released too late to be included in Ubuntu

more well integrated than the stock binaries. i.e. Ubuntu-specific patches
that may not be committed upstream.

Hi, does anyone have a link for the open office 3 beta? I am assuming this can
be installed in intrepid and should work better with Orca.

Thank you. That seems to work well. Plus it works on a laptop unlike
Microsoft's method of holding down the ALT key and typing out the decimal value
with the numpad. Add a point for linux.

Hi.
I'm no expert on Open Office, but it looks like the only way to see the
misspelled word is to use flat review.
The line with the misspelled word seems to be at the top of the spell check
dialog.
Hope this helps.

Hi, Open office seems to work better than it did,
but I have one question.
When using the spell checker orca doesn't say the misspelled word.
It does say the choices of words that can be used to replace the word that is
misspelled.
Is there a way to get orca to say the misspelled word as wel

Hi, I un installed lsr which didn't work anyway.
After I did open office loads but I get no speech.
However when exiting it does ask if I want to save changes.
So the problem must be with something that got installed when I installed lsr.

Hi.
You didn't say what version of Ubuntu you are running. I just tested on
my Feisty box and had no problem opening the Open Office word processor.
My system is running the latest packages as of this morning.

Sounds like a problem peculiar to your system, I'm afraid. What version
of Ubuntu are you using, and how are you starting OpenOffice.org?

Hi, I noticed that open office doesn't load at all.
It has been some time since I needed it.
Has anyone else had a problem with this program in the past week or so.

Hi, I was wondering what the current status with open office writer and orca is.
It looks like the one in feisty is a newer version so has the performance with
orca been improved.
Thanks Mike.

Hi, are there still issues when running open office writer with orca.
I had the following experience after getting updates today.
When I ran the spell checker and it found no misspellings it worked fine.
However when it did find a miss spelled word I lost speech.
After restarting it wanted to run
Hi I noticed twice when I ran the spell checker in open office it started the
document recovery.
Is this a known problem.
