The single most significant change between Alpha2 and Alpha3 is the

As the scrollbars and scale widgets exert a great influence on the
appearance of the theme, I decided to stay with the "pixmap" engine to
render these widgets

I made the ruler transparent just because I like how it looks. As Cory and
Anton said, the transparent rulers are quite common.
I see what Cory said about the perspective. I'm making another one with a
more consistent perspective to the other icons.
