i got to say, that's a pretty neat image, although I am not certain if usplash uses .gif yet, as far as I know there are a couple transformations which must occur to the image before it can be used by usplash, the first of which is it must be indexed into 16 colors. This image may work really

I would like that too, but a background might not work well for the same reasons it couldn't be anything other than black in the old usplash. I was thinking of shining a big spotlight on the logo that revealed a brown radial gradient-like background underneath it, but that doesn't work
