Fair enough, my only reason for suggesting those is everyone has some spare old computer lying around that can do the job. Haven't used qnap, but I have used a few http://www.thecus.com/ nas's, they have a good community and are very customisable, running busybox last time I played with them. On

Have you thought of using http://freenas.org/freenas or http://www.openfiler.com/ both are pretty good, and I have used both in dev and testing environments. If I was going to put one in a small business or at home I would use one of these, way more features for the price. Just build a little atom/
