without a hitch in prevu, and is running without a problem on my
workstation right now. it even provides a gaim meta/transition package
to help the upgrade path.

have time to play with it yet
i will lator but since it built and installed i am taken a big leap
and hoping it works

Just tried in prevu now that pidgin hit the repos, fails with:

If you install the package, the man page tells you in detail how to test
it by hand without having to install/configure it for Postfix. I could
test the .deb if you want, but of course I already believe it works
since I'm both upstream and the Debian maintainer. Let me know how I
can help.
