If you want to use bristol with Ardour, for example, you should follow
these steps:
1) launch jack
2) start Ardour
3) now start jack
4) open a shell and type: startBristol -jack -b3 (I mean you have to specify
the jack driver, -b3 is always for hammon b3)
5) make the connection with jack and pla

I have installed test package from my ppa and did some basic tests
(import/export from facebook, jpeg loosless rotation, e-mail images...).
It seems to work fine.
I will upload the package to karmic-backports for approval now.

Tested from karmic-proposed, works fine for me in Ubuntu Karmic 9.10
amd64.
Testing was done in a virtualbox-ose VM locally, not a production
mailserver. Tested scanning of mail with Date: in 2009, 2010 and in
2020.
