Hardy, but I failed.
i've added deb-src http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ karmic main
restricted universe multiverse to my sources.list, then ran apt-get
update and then ran apt-get build-dep ocropus

It builds on karmic without changes. I used it heavily without problems.

Below is a security advisory issued that fixes an issue CVE-2009-1570
which affected many Ubuntu releases. All versions have been patched
except the one in hardy backports; that isn't a backport from a newer
Ubuntu release.
